I am Amelia Earhart. I was born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas. I was an American aviation pioneer and pilot. I was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, for which I earned the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross. I founded the Ninety-Nines, which is an organization of female pilots. I disappeared on July 2, 1937, near Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe.
